We've all heard the famous quote by Anne Lamott: “Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.” But it's TRUE! In today's digitized world, our phones and other electronics have become an extension of ourselves. It's become second nature to surf between social networking apps, work emails, sending off text messages, and avoiding actual phone calls (because, who answers their phone these days, right?). We multitask without even realizing we're doing it, all while juggling our daily in-real-life responsibilities.
This was such an amazing adventure with Julie...Tallpine Lodges, thank you! I know what you may be thinking...where are Bethany, Bella, Lucas, Alex, Riley, Scout? Well, Tallpine Lodges is a kick-ass, adult- only, no-pet escape into the Manitoba wilderness. We did miss them, but made it through together just fine! From Winnipeg, you drive approx 1.5 hours to West Hawk Lake where TJ and Sacha have made a perfect cozy little thing next to the lake. Thank you again.
Spring was in the air, and sunshine was the signal of the start of warmer weather. Amy and I got the pleasure to stay and experience the cabin life in West Hawk Lake. A place where you would want to be. Tall Pines Lodges was the perfect accommodation to enjoy the freshness of spring and the wildlife coming out to feed on the grass from the melt. It was a getaway weekend in the books.
It sounds like the ultimate oxymoron—a working vacation. After all, vacations are meant to offer a break from the routine, a chance to disconnect and leave all the stresses of a working life behind. But let’s face it, we all check our email, incessantly perhaps, no matter where we are or what we’re doing. That smartphone in your hand likely had plenty to do with a trend toward working while on vacation.
I was surprised by my lovely husband with a belated Valentine's celebration. My mission was packing in 30 minutes to go to a place with snow (what really did not help when you live in a long-lasting winter in Winnipeg, Canada). I did not know where he was taking me until we got inside the car. I had a little shock when I discovered that he was taking me to Tallpine Lodges. If you don’t have a clue what I’m talking about, I highly recommend you to take a look into their Instagram account and see for yourself.
As many of you know, winter isn’t really my thing. However, with winter generally lasting six or so months in Winnipeg, it’s so important to take a moment to appreciate its beauty. In January this island girl got the opportunity to get away with her favourite photographers to enjoy Manitoba’s natural winter wonderland at Tallpine Lodges, located in the breathtaking Whiteshell Province Park.
As parents of two girls under the age of six, taking time away for just the two of us has not happened since before our oldest was born. We have worked hard to set time aside for dinner dates with just the two of us throughout the years but still having to rush home to relieve our babysitter and put the girls to sleep doesn’t leave us a lot of time to connect as a couple.
