West Hawk Lake Beach and WiewpointWest Hawk Lake, at 111m is Manitoba’s deepest lake. Formed by a meteor, the depth and clarity of the water makes it a popular scuba-diving destination. The beach at West Hawk Lake -- considered to be the best beach in the Whiteshell -- is within easy walking distance of Tallpine Lodges.

Lily PondThe Lily Pond: Located a short 10-15 minute drive west of Tallpine Lodges, along #44 through West Hawk Lake town site. The Lily Pond is a small, very picturesque lake that is covered in water lilies all summer. It also features high cliffs on the opposite shore. An interpretive sign is located at the roadside pull-off.

Hunt Lake, Whiteshell Provincial ParkHunt Lake: A short drive from Tallpine Lodges, Hunt Lake is a very pretty lake surrounded by trees. It is also the starting point for the popular Hunt Lake Hiking Trail.

Local Walking Trails (click the name to access maps and information)

Hunt Lake Trail, Whiteshell Provincial ParkHunt Lake Trail: Only a short drive from Tallpine Lodges, the Hunt Lake Hiking Trail is a favourite with guests. This 12.6 Km round trip trail leads north to Indian Bay returning along the east shore of West Hawk Lake. Guests should allow themselves 3-4 hours to enjoy the trail. Expect steep, difficult climbs that will reward you with spectacular views of the lake and countryside..

Lover’s Lane: A local trail within easy walking distance that will take you up the rocky outcrop above the town site and reward you with beautiful views over the lake.


 

Falcon Creek Trail: The trailhead is located north of the Trans-Canada Highway near the entrance to Falcon Lake. A trail guide/activity booklet is designed to help visitors become familiar with geological features they'll encounter during their walk. Distance 2.2 Km, 1-2 hr.

McGillivray Falls: This trail is a short and pleasant trail that shows a typical Canadian Shield drainage system. Guests can take the short loop (2.8 Km, 1 hr) or longer trail (4.6 Km, 2 hr) which reaches McGillivray Lake. Please be aware that the rock surface can be slippery when wet, and wear suitable footwear.

Trans-Canada Trail - North Whiteshell Trail: 100 Km, this section of the Trans-Canada Trail runs from the dam at Seven Sisters Falls to Caddy Lake, via Natalie, Eleanor, Dorothy and Nutimik Lakes on the Winnipeg River, and Betula Lake, White Lake, Brereton Lake, and Rennie.

Trans-Canada Trail - South Whiteshell Trail: 14 Km, this section of the Trans-Canada Trail runs from Caddy Lake to West Hawk Lake, with a spur from West Hawk to Falcon Lake.

Whiteshell Snowmobile Trails: Most snowmobile trails are accessible as walking and/or bike trails in the Summer.
